Tapered roller bearings are specifically designed to handle axial and radial loads on rotating shafts and housings.

Tapered roller bearings consist of four interdependent components:

The cone, or inner ring; the cup, or outer ring; the conical rollers, or rotating elements; and the cage, or retention of the rotators.

Cone corners allow the bearing to handle a combination of radial and axial loads.

The greater the angular slope of the cup, the greater the ability of the tapered roller bearings to handle axial loads.
